NEEDLE-FREE ACUPUNCTURE

It seems almost on a weekly basis someone says to me “I hate needles”. Acupuncture is commonly thought to be synonymous with the use of needles. However “Acupuncture” is just a nickname for Asian Medicine which includes several modalities of treatment.

Treatments used in Asian Medicine include:

CUPPING ~ is the method of using glass cups to create a localized suction. Cupping therapy has been found in ancient records dating back 3500 years. Cupping is mainly performed on one’s back because there are five meridians on the back.  When these meridians are opened, the internal energy is able to flow through the whole body.  Another healing aspect of cupping is through the release of toxins from one’s muscles and tissues, as well as increasing circulation to the area being treated.  Cupping also triggers the lymphatic system.

Cupping is most commonly used to treat asthma, muscular pain, sports injuries, tension headache, and colds.

Cupping is appropriate for children as well as adults ~ my grandchildren love the way it feels, “like getting kissed by an octopus”!

MICROCURRENT ~ This cutting-edge treatment is totally painless, quick, and incredibly effective.  The treatment consists of using microcurrent electricity, which is a very low level of electricity that is actually very close to the level that is constantly flowing through the body at all times; for this reason, the patient does NOT feel any sensation from the treatment.  Stimulating acupuncture points with microcurrent enhances the movement of qi through the meridians in a similar fashion to using needles.

Microcurrent, originally used on Olympic athletes, can drastically reduce the healing time of injured tissue by reducing pain and inflammation, as well as improving blood flow and range of motion.  It does this by increasing the body’s production of ATP (a substance found in our cells that is responsible for repair and regeneration of the cell) by 500%!

Needle-free microcurrent is appropriate for children as well as adults.
